Vickie Gillespie, Registered Dental Hygienist
Vickie grew up in Sparta
and graduated from
Alleghany High School in 1980. She then received her
Associate Degree in dental hygiene from Central Piedmont Community College in 1983. Vickie has
worked in our office since July 1994. Patients enjoy her funny personality and her gentle,
caring
attitude. She enjoys getting to know her patients, and has a wealth of experience as a
hygienist, having
worked in several different offices throughout the years. Vickie is married, has a son and a
daughter,
and several grandchildren. Vickie is very creative and an excellent cook. She also enjoys
sewing,
scrapbooking, crafting, and playing cards
Crystal Petree, Certified Dental Assistant
Crystal grew up in Winston-Salem. She graduated from Mount Tabor High School in 1999 and then
attended UNC-Charlotte. She graduated from the Forsyth Technical College Dental Assisting
program in
2003 and began working here in this practice upon graduation. She was in the inaugural class of
dental
assisting students at FTCC. She and Dr. Vann have worked together since 2007. Patients love
Crystal’s
sense of humor. She is quick to crack a joke or to make a hilarious come back. Crystal is a
fantastic
golfer, and she also enjoys bowling, fishing, and camping.
Kim Tucker, Certified Dental Assistant
Kim grew up in Elkin and graduated from Elkin High School in 1995. She graduated from the Wilkes
Community College Dental Assisting program in 1996. Kim has tremendous experience in general
dentistry, but also worked in endodontics for three years when she lived in Arkansas. She has
worked at
our office since 2004. Kim is a very valuable member of our team, as she has training as a
dental
assistant and at the front desk. Patients enjoy Kim’s friendly and caring personality. Kim is
married and
has a daughter. She enjoys decorating, scrapbooking, crafts, and camping.
Sharon Brown, Certified Dental Assistant and Front Desk
Sharon grew up in Dobson and graduated from Surry Central High School in 1983. She graduated
from
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Dental Assisting Program in 1984, and has worked
in our
office since May 1998. Sharon has a vast knowledge of insurance issues in dentistry. Having been
trained as a dental assistant, she uses this knowledge to help patients when they call with
questions
about their teeth or about their dental insurance. Patients appreciate the way that Sharon goes
above
and beyond the call of duty to help them get their dental insurance claims paid properly and any
insurance questions answered. Sharon is married and has two daughters. She enjoys fishing,
camping,
and spending time with her family.
Michelle Smith, Front Desk
Michelle grew up in Pilot Mountain and is a graduate of East Surry High School. She has worked in dentistry for over 20 years and brings extensive knowledge of dental insurance, claims, and scheduling. Patients love her friendly demeanor on the phone and appreciate her warm, welcoming personality when checking in at the office.
Michelle is married and has one daughter, three stepdaughters, and three grandchildren. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and photography.
Laura Nelson, Registered Dental Hygienist
Laura is a Mount Airy native and a proud graduate of North Surry High School. She earned her dental hygiene degree from Forsyth Tech in 2012 and has since built a strong foundation of clinical experience. Having worked in both a periodontal office and general dentistry, she brings extensive knowledge of periodontal care along with a genuine passion for serving families in a general practice setting.
Known for her thoroughness and gentle approach, Laura strives to ensure every patient feels comfortable, informed, and cared for. She loves getting to know her patients and especially enjoys seeing families with children.
Outside the office, Laura enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with her husband and daughter.
Cindy Davis, Registered Dental Hygienist (Retired)
Cindy is now retired, but you still may see her at the office. She still does fill in work when
Vickie or Laura are off. Cindy grew up here in Rural Hall and graduated from North Forsyth High School in
1976.
She then received her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1979. Upon graduation, she began working here in the practice and she
loves
serving the community where she grew up. Cindy would even hang out in this very parking lot when
she
was in high school! Cindy has an extremely loyal following of patients, many of whom she has
treated
for several years. Patients consider Cindy part of their families, and they enjoy catching up at
their
visits. Cindy has tremendous dental knowledge and experience, and is extremely thorough and
efficient.
Now that she is retired, she enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with her
grandchildren.
